We face a childcare crisis. The average young family in San Diego spends nearly a fifth of their income on infant care. Childcare for families with young kids is now more expensive than college!

But if you stand with me to flip San Diego County from red to blue, we can make quality childcare affordable for everyone.

Children who benefit from quality childcare enter kindergarten with better math, language, and social skills — a massive head-start to succeed in school and in life. Every child deserves that opportunity. Yet in San Diego County, there are 65,000 more preschool-aged kids than available spots in licensed child care centers.

As a new mother, this challenge impacts me personally.

While parents like me are searching for quality, affordable childcare, our current Supervisor Kristin Gaspar is busy spending her time supporting Donald Trump’s immoral border policies that brutally separate infants from their parents.

As your next County Supervisor, I will fight to make sure every child has an opportunity to succeed, by making quality childcare affordable for every family in San Diego County.

Working with accredited childcare centers, we can implement a new statewide law to increase the number of skilled, trained, and unionized childcare providers in San Diego County. Subsidized assistance will be scaled to household income, so every household pays a fair share, while all children receive the care they need.

Can you help flip San Diego County from red to blue, so all children have the opportunity for a fair start?

Over a century ago, Americans came together to guarantee free primary and secondary education to every child as the foundation of a free society. These investments in human potential unleashed our nation’s remarkable economic prosperity over the past hundred years. Now it is time, once again, to invest in our values and our future by guaranteeing access to quality, affordable childcare for all.
